Christian Education
TLC supports a graded Sunday School program. Classes are offered for children at the point they begin to "walk and talk" through Senior High. There is also an Adult SCS class. Classrooms vary depending on class size and other considerations.
Confirmation Ministry is held during the Sunday School hour and begins in 6th grade. It is a three year program in which class members are offered an intensive time of study of the Old and New Testaments, along with Church History and Theology. The third year class is confirmed on Pentecost Sunday.
Membership information classes are offered throughout the year, often on a Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon, for those interested in exploring the traditions of the Lutheran Church and membership in our congregation.
Bible Study is offered on Thursday mornings, September- May at 9:45 am and is led by Pastor Catharine Geib, on Tuesday evenings, October-March, at 6:15 pm and is led by Pastor Richard Geib. During the season of Lent, a five week bible study is offered on Wednesday evenings. A one night Adult Vacation Bible School is offered on the Wednesday evening of Vacation Bible School.
Each summer a large Vacation Bible School is offered for five consecutive weekday mornings. It is held in June, typically on the first full week after the end of the school year. It involves a large number of children, both members of the congregation, but also many neighborhood children.
Music
We support a large and diverse musical ministry including four vocal choirs: Adult Choir, Women’s Ensemble, Youth Choir, and Children’s Choir, as well as occasional ensembles and soloists. We also support two bell choirs, adult and youth, and a children’s chime choir.
Youth
TLC supports youth ministry at three levels: TWIGS (3rd-5th graders), Junior High (6th-8th graders), Senior High (9th-12th graders). Sometimes the groups come together. Sometimes they have their own activities. Typically, there is at least one activity per month. Our youth are also active in synodical retreats, as well as the National ELCA Youth Gatherings.
Social Ministry
Our congregation has an extensive mission ministry that includes monthly gatherings of gifts that support area ministries, a weekly food gathering for local food banks and neighbors in need, a large Christmas angel tree gift collection, support for our church camps, Seminary, and denominational social ministry organization, various mission trips and work camps, support for Habitat for Humanity through volunteers and offerings, as well as many other forms of service.
Church Camp
Two local Lutheran camps in Gettysburg (Nawakwa) and Colebrook (Kirchenwald) are the context of a large summer camping ministry and year round retreat ministry. Many of our members are active in our camps and regularly participate in the various opportunities provided by them. Each summer about 80-100 of our children, youth, and adults spend a week or more at one of camps. The congregation provides generous financial support to help our members attend.
Other Ministries
We sponsor a Cub Pack and Boy Scout Troop and provide space in our building for several Girl Scout groups. We host a Spring Chicken BBQ and a large range of fellowship opportunities including a church picnic, pork and sauerkraut lunch, and Lenten soup suppers.
Opportunities for adult recreation include volleyball, senior volleyball, Dartball, bowling, and basketball.
